Hopper vs. Rockwell and Where on earth? (from my old personal clips)

Desolate, bleak and barren yet serene, the aura of Hopper's works imparts the general image of

isolation, desolation, disconnection, and tranquil stillness as if the time is frozen in frame,

yet full of subtle tension as if the the still lives in the pics are captured in there against their will...
Quite unlike his contemporary Norman Rockwell who liked to paint the happy and innocently comic faces of life,

Edward Hopper was intuitively insightful about the lethargic pathos of life stemming from the meaningless lassitude...
Even the bright summer's day light, which would normally be a metaphor for afternoon delight of the youth,

becomes a strong language of helpless loneliness and desolation in the first pic above...

just like the state of mind I'm in.
On the other hand, Happy & Warm... even to the point of hilarity, Rockwell viewed life and the world around it

in the eyes of a care-free playful child, one would say, like Huckleberry Finn.
One can even sense how much affection he had about kids, life,

and every little daily human elements that make up the neighborhood.
In short, Rockwell celebrates life in many of its various episodes.

Where on earth is a place for people of our age to hang out on an evening like this?
No matter what you may have achieved, your life feels empty and barren without a place to go home to...
Vagabond and wanderer forever, maybe that's what I'm destined to be... in this life, in this world, on this planet...
