Storm King Art Center

 

여기도 어제 (08/16일) 무척 더웠음다...
습도는 그리 높지않았는데도 워낙 기온이 높다보니...
어젠 upstate NY에 있는 Storm King Art Center 란 야외 조각공원에 다녀왔져...
아마 족히 한 1,000  에이커는 넘는듯한 엄청 넓은 대지에...
일반 미술관이나 조각공원엔 설치할 엄두도 낼 수 없는 엄청 큰 조형물들...
바로 구릉, 산, 하늘, 지평선, 능선들과 외에는 조화를 이룰 수도 없고...
자연의 landscape 자체가 작품의 한 부분으로 녹아들어... (integral part)
단순히 조형물 자체만으론 전체적인 작품이 되지않는...
조형물과 자연이 하나가 되어 하나의 작품이 되는...
그런 대작들만 모아논 곳이져...
Calder, Di Suvero, Noguchi, Maya Lin... 등등 작가들의 마치 건축 구조물이나 landscaping 가튼 작품들...
특히 Maya Lin의 작품중 지형을 물결치는 파도모양의 연속적 구릉으로 만들어논 작품은...
마치 경주의 고분군을 연상케도 하고...
한국의 낮은 야산들의 연속적인 능선들을 연상케도 하는...
