The direct path of the total eclipse ran from Madras, Oregon in the West coast to Charleston, South Carolina in the East coast over the span of about 2 hours.
All the other areas were under at least some partial eclipse.
NYC was under partial eclipse as the path of totality was much further down south in Charleston, SC.
